For those interesting in applying for the current positions available at RPG Therapeutics LLC, you will need to meet the position requirements, including relevant certifications. This section provides information on how you can meet these requirements.

Below you will find information about how to acquire the relevant certifications.

Relevant Literature

For those people that are strongly self-motivated self-learners, interested in preparing to pass the RPG Certification exams. You can check our list of Recommended Literature to help you find the resources necessary to study for the appropriate exams.

You can also peruse some of the Sample Certification Exam Questions, for a small example of what some of the certification exam questions look like.

CTRS Information

Various professions have professional certifications, including one profession particularly relevant to our work, Therapeutic Recreation. The relevant certification, provided by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC), known as Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS).

See the NCTRC and/or American Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA) websites for information on the qualifications to sit for the CTRS test.

RPG Certifications

If you need to get one, or more, of the relevant Role-Playing Game certifications, you need to meet the minimum requirements for that certification, sit for the test (and any relevant practicum), pass the test, and receive your Certification Registration Number (CRN).

RPG Therapeutics provides, at various rates, classes, videos, written materials, and hands-on workshops to train people to pass the certification exams. Some of the lowest entry-level Tier 1 certifications can potentially be passed with very little experience prior to taking the courses. Most of the courses, however, require relevant applied experience before you can take the certification tests (similar to the SANS Institute for NCTRC's CTRS).

This can be a challenge for those new to the professional RPG industry, and can take years to gain the relevant experience.

One option to gain relevant experience, and potentially get peer-level training relevant to passing the certification tests and getting the appropriate experience, is to join the volunteers at The RPG Research Project. They are a loose knit group of volunteers from around the world, helping support each other in research studies on the effects of role-playing games, and experimenting with using RPGs to achieve various goals for participants.

Once you have gained the relevant training and experience, either through paid programs, or other routes, please complete the relevant Certification Test Application Verification Form (CTAV). This form will validate that you have met the requirements to take the certification exam, and being the scheduling process for you to take the exam(s), work on your practicum, and any other requirements.
